Waltz: A Refreshing Reception Center

Creating a Fresh and Positive Corporate Image

The Waltz reception center, designed by Rainie Yeh, is a unique and innovative space that combines elements of nature and technology. With its vibrant colors, curved shapes, and incorporation of wood and plants, this reception center creates a fresh and positive corporate image for an optical technology company.

Stepping into the Waltz reception center, one is immediately greeted by an abundance of natural light streaming in through the large floor-to-ceiling windows. The geometric figure-designed walls, adorned with sky blue and green plants, add a lively and refreshing atmosphere to the space. By using wooden elements to connect floors and walls, the design creates a relaxing and healing vibe, reminiscent of walking through a forest. This departure from the traditional impression of the technology industry sets the Waltz reception center apart from others in its field.

The design of the Waltz reception center is realized through the use of arc-shaped materials, such as arc structure loft space, spiral stairs, eye-shaped walls, arc-shaped furniture, and arc lamps. This cohesive design approach ensures consistency throughout the space and creates a visually appealing and harmonious environment.

The Waltz reception center spans an indoor area of 115 square meters, with a height of 4.8 meters. Its unique features and attention to detail make it a standout project in the field of reception center design. The integration of nature-inspired elements, such as plants and wood, with modern technology creates a space that is both inviting and functional.

Designed by Rainie Yeh and her team, including Yeh Yu-Chi and Xu Ming-Zheng, the Waltz reception center offers a seamless interaction between visitors and the space. The reception counter, with its innovative arc-shaped design and built-in curved glass, presents a harmonious hospitality. The pure white color scheme extends upwards, drawing the eye to the spiral staircase, which replaces the cumbersome presence of ordinary stairs with smooth curves. The space under the stairs is cleverly utilized as a conference room, providing a private area for meetings and discussions. On the second floor, the height of the space and the arc-shaped sofa create a different atmosphere, serving as a discussion space, waiting area, or gathering space for groups.

The Waltz reception center was completed between November 2020 and May 2021 in Miaoli County, Taiwan. The design team's research focused on creating a relaxing and pleasant workspace for employees and visitors, combining technology with elements of nature. By incorporating wooden elements, natural colors, and custom-made arc lights, the team achieved a distinctive visual aesthetic that sets the reception center apart.

The renovation of an old traditional technology company posed challenges for the design team. On-site surveys were necessary to evaluate the structure and water-cooled air-conditioning system, and many parts of the old structure had to be dismantled to assess the feasibility of design ideas. Despite these challenges, the team successfully transformed the space into a vibrant and welcoming reception center.

The Waltz reception center, designed by Rainie Yeh, has been recognized for its excellence in design. It was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in 2022 in the category of Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design. This prestigious award is given to well-designed, practical, and innovative creations that meet professional and industrial requirements. The Waltz reception center's integration of industry best practices, competent technical characteristics, and contribution to a better world make it a deserving recipient of this accolade.
